On Wednesday 15th May, the Treviglas Leos held a handover event where they presented the charities of their choice with cheques. They had raised the money over the last 3 months by completing a £20 challenge. They we given £20 and a raffle book and had to make as much money as possible. Overall, they raised £379.40!
They donated half of the funds to Cornwall Hospice Care as this is a close charity to the students and staff of the sixth form and the other half of the money was donated to SKYD (Supporting Kernow’s Young Diabetics). SKYD is a small charity that the Leos chose due to their assistant head of sixth form had informed them about the charity and all the work that they do for the young children that have the condition. Treviglas itself has a few members of SKYD so the choice was fitting.
The handover event was a great success with both representatives being extremely grateful and explaining more about how the donation will help them. The Leos said that they thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and were very happy to be a part of something so special and heart-warming. Leos President Harry Marsay who organised the event said that ‘It is fantastic to be able to give back to the community and support the members of the charities. I hope to carry on fundraising for more charities in the future.’ Overall, the event was a success and the charities were thrilled with the donations and efforts that the Leos made.
